Having grown up on a farm in North Carolina, working outdoors just became part of her natural instincts, Angie says. Though at one point she planned on becoming a pilot, she ultimately found that her love of the outdoors could be a successful career path that would use her skills while being wholly fulfilling.
A lot of lawn care companies talk about training. But in terms of what that really means, it can vary dramatically from the bare minimum “state-required” training to a more robust training program. It truly is like comparing apples to oranges from company to company.

Nick Twinning has been working in the Green Industry in one capacity or another since high school. He even worked his way through college while performing landscaping work on the side. That has included landscape design/build, mowing, mulching, and more.
Following high school, Chip Marksberry went to work for a landscaping company, working on one of their mowing crews. He was just 19-years-old, but he was driven and hard-working and hoped to find that he had an opportunity to move up within the company. Though Chip wasn’t entirely sure what he wanted to do as a long-term career, he knew that he wanted to find a company where he was appreciated.
Having come from previous sales jobs at some larger corporate companies, Brian Myers says that he always felt like his opinions never mattered. Even if he had ideas that he thought could benefit the company, they were not welcomed. The places that he worked already had “their own way of doing things,” and zero interest in hearing anything else.
Before coming to work for Oasis Turf & Tree, Nate Wickemeyer was working for a pest control company—and prior to that had held several different jobs outside of the industry. But no matter where he found jobs and started working, history seemed to repeat itself again and again.
Every day is a new day with new opportunities. And the truth is, we never know exactly which direction life is going to take us. A fleeting moment in time could ultimately mean so much more.
That was the case for Dan Kruthaupt.
When Dan was coming out of a gas station one day, he never would have guessed that a scene he passed by would eventually have a profound impact on the future direction of his life and his career.
Dan saw a group of guys from Oasis Turf & Tree hanging out. It was a simple moment, but it stuck with him.
At the time, Dan was looking to make a change in his life. He had held very short-term jobs for mowing companies, but never felt like he found a place where he belonged. He often felt underappreciated and he certainly didn’t like going to work every day.
Tony Reeves will be the first to admit that prior to coming to Oasis Turf & Tree, he didn’t even know lawn care was something that people invested in. He laughs about it today since he now calls turf a “passion” and says one of the most rewarding aspects of his job is following up with clients who have completely transformed their lawns. He says there’s nothing like talking to happy homeowners who have seen the results of their investment pay off.
While he came in without a lawn care background, Tony says that right off the bat, he felt supported by the company.
